Living Life As Prescribed…
We asked our friend Melissa Alexis Cvjeticanin from CrossFit Mississauga what it mean to “Live Life As Prescribed” and here is what she wrote. Thanks Melissa! Click here to check out Melissa’s blog.
It’s no secret that CrossFit is a life-changing experience. It truly has been an eye opener for me in terms of the definition of “fit,” as it has for many others.
I, like the average person, thought keeping fit meant going for a run every once in a while. Just takes a little dedication – no biggy. My old exercise regimen included just that and only that; but once I did my first CrossFit workout I quickly realized I was selling myself short.
I now find myself in a much more balanced state: mind, body and soul. Not only can I run, but I can also lift a s*** ton of weight! I’ve also discovered the art of patience, with myself as well with others; and now that I have found this balance, I have found myself at a new level of fitness, and I have discovered a new definition for it:
The ability to be placed in any given situation and be able to execute, with proficiency – at above average standards – the task at hand, be it physically and/or mentally demanding; the ability to connect with the self and meet one’s needs and make oneself first priority
Living life as Rx’d
I carry what I refer to as the ‘CrossFit mentality’ throughout many aspects in my life. The CrossFit mentality is formed by the CrossFit community, in that everyone supports each other and acts as one big family unit. I find myself giving more encouragement to people not just at the gym, but outside of it as well. My relationships with friends and family have improved and I am happier in general.
Living life Rx’d to me has meant living life to my fullest and not selling myself short; it means never give up, no matter how tired and worn out I could possibly be, because there is always a finish line up ahead.
